Sarah Throne-Ploehn most values a creative balance between theory and practice in advertising design and her go-to client strategy is high-level messaging with a custom vintage flair. Perhaps her analytical mind led her to a master's degree in advertising design with a specialization in art direction from the Savannah College of Art and Design and her creative mind led her to be founding art director for Rivertown Creative & Co., a boutique design studio that specializes in digital media. By combining her right and left brain, her work has been recognized by the American Advertising Federation as an ADDY award recipient, by the Manhattan One Show, and her ad designs used by LG, Aveeno, Jose Cuervo, New York Lottery, Hertz, Nike, Livestrong, JCB, and Guiness among others. She is a part-time faculty member of Augustana College's art department, continues her research interests in branding theory, political advertising, and vintage typography, has facilitated youth creativity through Quad City Metro Arts, and has mentored art students at the Bucktown Center for the Arts. Yet, you will find her more often than not concepting while she drinks only well-branded coffee with her St. Bernard, Scout, and listening to Vampire Weekend.
